I was told by my family that boys do not cry. I am 30 now and I cannot cry even when I desperately need to. They did not protect me from emotions. They just broke the release valve. #anger #toxic #masculinity
That anger is completely justified - your family essentially took away one of your most basic human needs for emotional release and healing. The cruel irony is that in trying to "protect" you from being seen as weak, they actually made you more vulnerable by cutting off your natural way of processing pain and stress. It's never too late to try to reconnect with that part of yourself, even if it feels impossible right now - your body and mind remember how to cry, even if the pathway feels blocked.
